A Septum piercing is a facial piercing that goes through the soft tissue in the center of your nose, between the nostrils. The septum is the wall of cartilage that divides the nostrils. Unlike classic labrets, which are pierced horizontally, vertical labrets are pierced, well… vertically. Not for the faint of heart, vertical labrets actually go through the lower lip itself, meaning they can be somewhat more painful than other lip piercings. But the result is worth it for those after a bold, noticeable piercing. The top ball of the jewelry will sit front and center on the lower lip itself, and the bottom ball will sit just below the lower lip. LIP (Lower): Ashley

The Ashley, or the inverse vertical labret, enters through the inside of the lower lip and rests in the center of the lip. The Ashley is similar to the vertical labret with one major difference, the needle exits through the back of the lower lip and into the mouth instead of exiting beneath the lower lip. LIP (Upper): Monroe Piercing

A Monroe piercing is off center above the upper lip. It is intended to look like a beauty mark and is usually on the left side of the face. A Monroe piercing is a horizontal facial piercing (i.e., the needle is parallel to the ground) that goes through the upper lip on the left side of the mouth, named after Marilyn Monroe. The Jestrum piercing starts where a typical Medusa piercing would, right above the center of the upper lip.
